Conditional patch designers

Show the patch designer only when a customer chooses a matching product option. This is available in Vero 1.8.3 and Vero2 2.0.1 beta, and is off by default.

Configure the controlling choice

1. Add a Product custom select, Product custom multiselect, or Product swatch group to the same product form as your Patch designer.
2. Give it a clear Line item property key, such as Decoration method, and add choices such as Custom patch and No patch.
3. In the Patch designer, enable Show based on another property.
4. Set Controlling property key to Decoration method. Use the property key, not the block heading or Shopify variant-option name.
5. Choose Is any of and enter Custom patch in the matching-values field.

The designer appears when the customer chooses Custom patch. Has any value shows it after any selection, and Is not any of excludes specified selections. Separate multiple matching values with commas. Matching ignores case and surrounding spaces; multiselect rules compare individual selected values.

What happens while hidden

The designer's fields are disabled and its required-artwork validation is skipped. Patch properties, original artwork, generated preview files, and associated fees are excluded from the submission. The patch overlay and its mobile sticky treatment are also hidden.

The current-page upload and selections are retained. If the customer returns to the matching option, the builder restores them and refreshes generated files. This does not save an upload across a page reload.

Vero2's guided size, cleanup, backing, and fee fields follow the same rule. Product-tag restrictions still apply before the designer can appear. A blank controlling key leaves the designer unchanged; a missing, hidden, or disabled controlling block keeps it hidden.

Test both paths

Preview one product using the template. Select the patch option, upload artwork, then switch to the non-patch option and add to cart. Confirm that no patch artwork or fees were submitted. Repeat with the patch option selected and confirm its artwork and charges are present. See Patch Preview setup for the normal designer configuration.
