◆ Project profile
Thunder Mountain Customs
Thunder Mountain Customs came to us with a partially completed Shopify store that had stalled before becoming a usable home for the business. The growing mix of customizable hats, jewelry, keychains, apparel, and other products needed clearer organization and a better way to handle product-specific options and pricing. We rebuilt the storefront on the Vero Theme, creating a cohesive shopping experience with flexible personalization, file uploads, conditional pricing, and shoppable add-ons that allow customers to build the product they want without turning every item into an overwhelming wall of choices.

01 / The challenge
What needed to work better.
Thunder Mountain Customs already had a Shopify store in progress, but the build had stalled and the unfinished experience was difficult to navigate. With advertising already running and in-person vendor events supporting the business, the website needed a practical path forward instead of another round of temporary fixes. The catalog itself introduced additional complexity. Thunder Mountain sells several kinds of customizable products, from hats and apparel to engraved jewelry and accessories. Different products required different combinations of colors, materials, artwork uploads, engraving details, and personalization fields. Presenting every possible choice at once made the storefront feel overwhelming. Pricing also needed to respond accurately to customer selections. Hat pricing changed based on the chosen patch material, while jewelry could include paid additions such as double-sided engraving, extra discs, or birthstone charms. The existing product-options setup was becoming expensive while still failing to match the way these products were actually sold.
02 / The build
How 424 approached it.
We rebuilt Thunder Mountain Customs on Shopify using the Vero Theme, giving the business a cleaner visual foundation and a product structure designed around customizable goods. Instead of treating every product the same, we configured product-specific option groups that show customers only the choices relevant to the item they are purchasing. Hat customers can select the appropriate materials and customization details, while jewelry products can collect engraving instructions, color choices, uploaded artwork, and any required acknowledgements without cluttering the rest of the catalog. For upgrades that affect price, we used Vero's product add-on system to connect the selection to real products and variants in Shopify. Customers can add options such as extra discs or birthstone charms directly from the main product page, choose the appropriate variation and quantity, and have each addition placed in the cart with the correct price. The same flexible approach supports material-based charges for custom hats without forcing the merchant into hundreds of impractical variants or an expensive options subscription. File uploads, special-instruction fields, and conditional controls give customers a clear way to submit the information needed for production. Behind the scenes, the setup keeps products, add-ons, and pricing within Shopify so Thunder Mountain can manage its offering as new designs and options are introduced. We also reorganized the storefront around the different parts of the business and carried the rustic Western branding throughout the site. The finished experience gives customers clearer paths into custom hats, jewelry, apparel, and other goods while giving Thunder Mountain a stable foundation it can continue managing and expanding.
