The "Maker" Theme

What is "Maker"?

We’ve been part of the maker community for years. Before 424 Solutions took off, I ran a laser engraving business and helped my wife at the time, Beth, with her own maker projects; from sublimation and vinyl to crochet.

After years of hanging out in maker and laser Facebook groups, and building countless sites for fellow makers, I started to notice a pattern: we were always adding custom code, apps, or widgets to solve the same problems over and over again. Being a developer at heart, I thought, why not just build everything we can right into a theme? So I did.

Now, not everything can live directly in the theme - Shopify has limits, and that’s actually a good thing. It keeps your site fast and prevents your computer from turning into a frozen paperweight. So alongside the Maker theme, we’ll be launching a few lightweight “micro-apps” that pair perfectly with it, restoring that extra functionality without the bloat.
